Indigo Carmine Certified is a synthetic dye derived from indigo, with a chemical formula of C16H8N2Na2O8S2. This dye appears dark blue to very dark blue in color and is highly soluble in water, resulting in a deep blue solution. Also known as Acid Blue 74, Indigo-5,5′-disulfonic acid disodium salt, or Indigocarmine. This dye is commonly utilized in histology, microbiology, and medical procedures as a collagen stain and in conjunction with red nuclear stains.
