Traditional polyhedral alcohol lamp with 120ml glass tank, nickel-plated cap and fiber wick. Polyhedral features allows for multiple angles. Works by soaking ethyl alcohol up the wick and lighting with a match or lighter.
Used to produce an open flame. Produces a cooler flame than a propane or butane burner.
Generally preferred over Bunsen burners for safety purposes as the flame produced is limited in height and size. Produced flame has a lower temperature than other burner types. Flame remains sufficient for performing standard molecular biology and sterilization procedures.
How To:
Use with denatured alcohol as fuel (with alcohol content of 95% or higher).
Trim wick to no more than 2cm.
Use under the supervision of an adult.
Never leave flame unattended.
