Phenol red is a pH indicator dye that changes color based on the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. It gives yellow color below pH 6.8 and between 6.8 – 8.2 pH, it turns orange to red color. It turns pink to fuchsia color above pH 8.2. It is commonly supplied in a diluted form, such as a 0.02% solution. In this concentration, phenol red appears as a red liquid and is typically stored in a neutral or slightly basic aqueous solution. Phenol red 0.02% solution is a chemical indicator commonly used in various scientific applications.
